BIG BEARS LODGE, West Dover

Big Bears Lodge offers several room types. Standard Double rooms include 1 queen bed, a private bathroom with a shower, cable TV, and an alarm clock. Standard Queen rooms feature 1 queen bed, a private bathroom with a shower over the bath, cable TV, an alarm clock/radio, and entry to the front of the property and the central internal corridor. Standard Queen with Twin rooms contain 1 queen and 1 twin bed, a private bathroom with a shower over the bath, cable TV, and an alarm clock/radio. These rooms have a small window. Standard Queen with 2 Twins rooms are larger and include 1 queen and 2 twin beds, a private bathroom with a shower over the bath, cable TV, and an alarm clock/radio. These rooms have a view and entry via a door to the front of the property. Standard Queen with Bunk Bed rooms include 1 queen bed with a set of bunk beds, a private bathroom with a shower over the bath, cable TV, and an alarm clock/radio. Even-numbered rooms have an external and internal door. Deluxe King rooms are spacious and feature a king bed, a private bathroom with a shower over the bath, cable TV, an alarm clock/radio, and a view to the rear of the property. All rooms include free toiletries and a flat-screen TV.

The dining room seats 60 guests and is where breakfasts and evening meals are served to visiting groups. Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM on winter weekends and from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at all other times. The dining room overlooks the backyard, allowing guests to view wild birds, squirrels, and chipmunks visiting the birdfeeders. The establishment does not serve alcohol, but a refrigerator and microwave are available for guest use in the bar lounge.

Big Bears Lodge features several lounges. The quiet lounge offers books, magazines, and children's games, with patio doors leading to the deck, outdoor pool, and backyard. Access to the outdoor hot tub is through this lounge. Pool towels are provided. The TV lounge includes sofas and a stone fireplace, checkers, books, movies, and TV programs. The bar lounge has a stone fireplace. Guests can play pool or foosball in the games room. The outdoor heated pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting and is heated to 82 degrees. A playground-quality jungle gym with a small rock climbing wall is in the backyard.

Big Bears Lodge is located near the Mount Snow Ski Resort, and the towns of Dover and Wilmington. Several attractions are near the lodge, including Equipe Sports & Mtn. Riders (5 minutes), Wilmington shops and art galleries, Olallie Daylily Gardens, Hogback Mountain's Southern Vermont Natural History Museum, and Honora Winery. Other attractions include the Brattleboro Outlets (45 minutes), the Bennington Monument and Museum, Long Trail Brewing Co. (1 hour 50 minutes), Quechee Gorge, Woodstock, the Cathedral of the Pines (1 hour 45 minutes), the Vermont State Craft Center Windsor (1 hour 40 minutes), the Windsor Brewery, Simon Pearce glassblowing studio, Plymouth Notch (Calvin Coolidge's birthplace), Equinox Mountain and Skyline Drive (1 hour 30 minutes), and the Yankee Candle flagship store.

Big Bears Lodge is near the Albany County Airport, Bradley International Airport in Hartford, the regional airport in Keene, New Hampshire, and Logan International Airport in Boston. Train service is available via The Amtrak Vermonter to Brattleboro, Vermont, and the new Ethan Allen Express to Rensselaer/Albany. The Albany train station is 1 hour and 30 minutes by car. The lodge offers a garage secured nightly and unlocked each morning. A wash area and cleaning equipment are outside the garage for guest use.
